If your kid loves airplanes, diecast model airplanes are some of the best toys you can get. Our son Jax has a growing collection, and these are the ones he plays with the most.
Daron Diecast Model Airplanes
Daron makes diecast model airplanes for dozens of airlines — the single planes are about 6 inches long with landing gear, perfect for swooshing around the house. The airport playsets come with a plane plus little vehicles like luggage carts and fuel trucks. They've held up well despite daily use. Every time we fly a new airline, Jax asks if they make a Daron model of it.
Single Planes
The single planes are the simplest option — just the plane with retractable landing gear. They're about 6 inches long, made of diecast metal, and feel solid in a kid's hand. Jax's first one was a Hawaiian Airlines plane, and it's still in great shape after years of play.

Airport Playsets
The airport playsets are the better value — you get a plane plus accessories like a luggage cart, fuel truck, stairs, and ground crew figures. Jax has several of these and uses the accessories interchangeably between airlines.
